skin protection - filter system of skinAfter the filtered air and the environment, light reaching us is composed of UVB, UVA, visible light and infrared radiation. In the structure of the skin itself, have a filter paper keratin, organic acid and especially melanin.

There are two major types of melanin, eumelanin, black, which is the most important and pheomelanin, reddish. Eumelanin, which is the melanin in his prime, has its maximum absorption spectrum at 300 nm, functioning as an effective filter radiation below this wavelength. The pheomelanin, is present in significant proportions in individuals redheads and filter effect is insignificant. (more…)
